Picture Perfect...

These are just a few pictures of Theo taken over his first 10 weeks...

After his first surgery

Doesn't get much cuter than this!

Day 1 Post-Op

Even with the little trouble the doctors had with Theo's blood pressure last night, he has done well today.

The doctors were originally going to extubate Theo today but have decided to wait another day.  (They extubated him a little too early after the first surgery and had to put the tube back in).

Surgery day

                                                               Just before surgery

Theo went into surgery at 7am on the 7th. It was expected to be about an 8 hour surgery. During the surgery, the doctor removed the aortic valve, put the pulmonary valve in its place and then replaced that one with a valve from cadaver.  This was a much more complicated than the first surgery but once again, Theo was very strong and came through even better than expected.
The doctors had a little but of trouble getting Theo's blood pressure stable overnight but finally got that worked out and he has been doing well today.

Just a little history...

Theodore Lee Hein was born a healthy, 6lb 3 oz baby boy on August 30, 2012.

When Theo was almost 1 week old, his mom was told that he had a problem with his heart that would need surgery. That surgery was to repair a coarctation of the aorta which means that part of his aorta was too narrow. Theo came through that surgery like a champ and recovered very well.

Everything seemed to be going very well until a routine cardiovascular check up revealed that he now has another issue with his heart. At 10 weeks, Theo was diagnosed with Shone's Complex (also known as Shone’s Syndrome, Disorder, or Anomaly) which is a very rare heart condition. Shone's complex consists of 4 separate heart defects but in many cases, the patient will experience only some of the 4 defects.
Theo was diagnosed with Shone's on Friday, November 2nd and by Monday the 5th he was scheduled for his second surgery.
